Adventures in Peeping

The first sign that making your own Peeps was a bad idea was the included coupon that expired in 2004.

But Atticus thought it would be a good idea, so why not listen to the dog... As long as he's not some demon possessed, Son of Sam dog telling you to kill people.

Wham-O! They make Slip n Slides, so how could they not make good candy!?

Some assembly was required. Thankfully they used big pictures and small words.

Fully constructed Peep maker with included, 7 year old sugar!

So, to make the Peep mix, you add mix #1 and 1 tablespoon of water and stir for no more than 30 seconds. Then comes mix #2 which can only be mixed for a maximum of 20 seconds.

Whatever these two mixes make, it was not appetizing looking. It was some kind of chunky, sticky mess.

All the molds filled and in 5 minutes you have the perfect Peep, supposedly.

And then cover the unidentifiable objects in the included sugar. I think there was supposed to be a star, a chicken, a heart, and a rabbit.

The finished product had some lemon sort of aftertaste, but I was still alive the next day, so I'm sure it's fine?
